Equestrian Book & Market Fair

This post is to my local friends or to those of you aren’t local but like driving! Some of the coolest equestrian authors and I are all coming together on August 1st in Fallston, Maryland, (north central Maryland), for the Equestrian Book & Market Fair!

Located at the beautiful Rutledge Ridge Farm (2301 Rutledge Road, Fallston, MD 21047) – this will be a day of fun in gorgeous Maryland horse country. Five authors, 30+ other vendors, (mostly equestrian, but not all), pony rides, and (hopefully) a food truck = the perfect summer day.

The schedule is still a little TBD, but you can expect a talk about Marguerite Henry and Misty of Chincoteague from Susan Friedland, and an author Q&A discussion panel with Susan, Patrick Smithwick, Natalie Keller Reinert, Heather Wallace, and myself, Laurie Berglie.

I came up with the idea for this event over the winter. I am publishing my upcoming novel, Letting Go, and thought that I’d do something a little different for its debut. I thought I would push myself outside of my comfort zone and have a launch party!

Then I thought, “Well, what’s a party without friends?” So I invited some of my favorite authors to join me. Then, after some discussion with the owner of the farm, we figured we’d extend the invite to some local businesses to see if we could get a few more vendors just for funsies. All of a sudden my book launch party became the Equestrian Book & Market Fair!!

And well, I do have some bad news. The guest of honor, my latest book, will most likely NOT be there. Whomp whomp. I know, I’m embarrassed. The book is finished – I just need to get the final template together, finalize the cover, upload everything to KDP, (I self-publish through Amazon), and then approve the review copy. But there’s one little hitch – I’ll be away for two weeks this month on my vacation to England…so the timeline is going to be a little tricky. I’m not sure I’m going to be able to pull it off…and I don’t want to rush it either.

So, there’s a pretty decent chance that Letting Go will be late to the party. I’m sorry!!

BUT it’s okay – you won’t even miss her because you’ll be too busy visiting with the other authors, getting your books signed, shopping at the other vendors’ booths, and taking photos of your kids on their pony rides.

This is the final cover image for LETTING GO - isn’t it gorgeous?

(We still have space for just a few more vendors if you’d like to join – please message me at laurie.berglie@gmail.com if so)!
