The Calm Before the Storm
Every year when summer comes, I get excited about slowing down, enjoying quiet nights on the patio, catching up with friends, pool time, evening visits to the local ice creamery, etc. But every year summer ends up being nonstop busy. And this year was unusually busy as I horse showed more than normal…and then we went to England for two weeks in July. By the time we got home on July 22nd, it basically felt like summer was over. It wasn’t, (and still isn’t), of course, but I felt like we missed the bulk of it.
Not that I’m regretting that trip – it was AMAZING! I will post about it, I promise. But it will literally take me a year to write about all the fun places we visited, the tours we took, the delicious food we ate…truly it was a trip of a lifetime.
This next week, however, is the calm before the storm. I have stuff on my calendar because of course I do, but nothing out of the ordinary. But then, next Friday, it all starts. We leave for my most favorite horse show of all time, Ludwig’s Horse Show & Country Fair. We’ll be gone for three nights up in Chester County, Pennsylvania.

When we get back, I have about a week at home until we head to the Dominican Republic for a work trip. I know “work trip to the DR” might sound weird, but it’s actually not lol. My husband and I own a travel agency, Be All Inclusive, and fall is “event season” with lots of conferences, awards trips, etc. This one in the DR is an award trip, so it’s a tiny bit more play than work…but it’s still work.
In early October we are heading to Disney for almost a week with my family. I love Disney! I am not a ride person so much these days because my motion sickness won’t allow it, but the food? Yes, please! I have celiac disease, so I’m gluten free – and Disney does allergies SO well.
In November we head to Springfield, Massachusetts, for Equine Affaire where I will be setting up a booth for my books. This is my first time going, so I’m excited to see what all the fuss is about. My booth will be next to my friend and fellow author, Susan Friedland, so stop by and say hi to us both! (More info to come as EA gets closer).
And while that’s it for travel…I’ll also be hitting up some fall horse shows AND publishing my next book, so in the middle of packing suitcases and catching flights, I’ll be doing all things horsey and bookish.
Lots of fun and exciting things coming up…and I am so blessed to live this life, but I am a little tired already just thinking about the busyness of it all. But I wouldn’t have it any other way!
